I remember Zach's well , and back in the 60's when I used to eat hamburgers they were the best. My friend was a bartender there ( Jeff W. ) We had a deal that I would go there with my friends and order drinks , he would not charge us for the drinks but insisted we leave a tip on the bar , it saved us a lot on drinks and he made really good tips.
I remember it only because of the turtle races! Grew up in Terra Linda and there was a guy who lived down the street who went to the turtle races frequently. It always sounded so neat; never made it to see one, though.
Who remembers Zach's in Sausalito? It was a fun bar & danging spot on Bridgeway, north of downtown. They had the best hamburgers, turtle races and great dance bands.
