Does the Tamalpais Motel just south of the Strawberry Shopping Center still have an old neon sign? I went past there on the freeway the other day and the place still looked pretty much like it had in my day, but I can't remember if I spotted a sign or not.

Paul P., Great question about the Blue Rock sign. I'll ask the owner on May 2 when I attend an event there. And it's Caffe Rulli that you're thinking of with the chairs.

Jason, I think the pic is from late 90's but I have no idea where I got it.
Whenever I see a pic I like on the internet I save it, and that one I grabbed about 4 yrs ago.

Paul S., I think the Rainbow sign still shines (or it at least did long after the market closed)
The key here is the light gleaming from inside which tells us the market was still open.
I believe it closed around '99-'00. What about the deuce ? The 2AM Club sign MUST still shine.
That was a cute line about not driving around at night any more. Me too. I miss that.

I always look for the cars in the picture to get an idea of the era. Even though there is
an old car with black on yellow plates in front of the Peso , there are more modern cars down
the street that are hard to distinguish.

Looks pretty recent to me. Well, for me "recent" is anything after about 1980. This looks newer than that. Look down the sidewalk on the right and you'll see some white tables, which I assume are for outdoor eating for that deli/coffee place that occupies three or four old storefronts now. I forget what it's called.

banned in M.V. pretty much , but may be OK in historical districts elsewhere. I don't
drive at night much anymore so maybe I should take a cruise at night and see
what neon signs are still on.

Do they not light up the Blue Rock sign anymore? Or is it still capable of being lit up?

Nice pic, BTW.
