Cool! Nice flash. I'd forgotten about them. I used to LOVE to paste them into the books. I barely remember what was so exciting about them. I mean I don't think I personally got anything out of it. I remember something about seeing what we could "buy" with them. Makes me think of Sears catalogue which was also exciting. I think my mother was into that, while the Blue Chips was my dad's thing.

You redeemed the Blue Chip stamps at a store on East Francisco Blvd. near Bellam. I remember it well, as my father had a heart attack there in Oct. of 1969 . There were Raleigh and Belair coupons that were attached to the cigarette cartons too, and these were redeemed by mailing them in to the cigarette companies. the Blue Cip stamps were given at the gas stations

What a long time ago! We had them in a kitchen drawer too. On rainy days my mom would pull them out and we'd work on the dining room table sticking them into the books. Mom even used to give us little bowls filled with with water for the backs. I remember driving to the blue chip stamp place (?) near (or at?) the San Rafael Post Office. Oddly enough, I never remember getting anything for the full booklets. I guess it was more about the process than the product!

Where were the original Cala Foods located? Was Bell Market there competitor? Is the one in downtown Tiburon an original Cala (now Bell)?

Yep, I very remember blue chip stamps. I would religiously collect them and paste them in my booklet. Then my mom would take us down to the blue chip store, which was located in the building next the San Rafael post office across the street from Marin Square. That's how I got my first camera!

My dad owned a gas station and we always had blue chip and S & H green stamps. I remember getting them from Cala Foods too and pasting them in the book and getting the catalog to pick something to redeem them for.

omigosh, completely forgot about these! I remember my mom getting them at Cala Foods. There were big ones that went along the end of the book, and little ones that filled in the rest of the page. I remember going to San Rafael to redeem them, too. I think we got kitchen items. One that I recall was a under the counter Flour/sugar/coffee storage bin. Made of white plastic with imitation wood stripe on the front. So early '70's!

Yup. We had a little drawer in the kitchen that was full of booklets and stamps; green and blue as I recall. I remember we got something like a badminton set at Bellam Av. Other goodies too. But where were Green Stamps redeemed?

Who remembers Blue Chip Stamps? You would get them when purchasing gasoline. I think you used to get them at grocery stores too, but I'm not sure. I remember being so excited to go home and paste them in a book because when the book was full, you got to go to the Blue Chip Redemption Center and trade your stamps in for all kinds of merchandise, even toys. The more stamps you saved, the more expensive the item you were able to get. It was always like Christmas when you went to redeem your stamps, especially when I was lucky to get something for myself. The Blue Chip Stamp Redemption Center was on Bellam Blvd. in San Rafael where the post office is today.
