Rob, I thought it was New Joe's that burned but maybe it that was before Bob's. I know it sounds odd having another Joe's so close to the great one but I'm possitive about it being there at some point.

The Edgewater was one of the very few "nice" motels. I saw Billy Mumy in the lobby when he was filming Dear Brigitte at Gate Six with Jimmy Stewart (1965)

Before it was remodeled into the Peppermill, it was Bob's of Marin. Back in the day the motel there was called the Edgewater.
Bob's was mostly a fancy burger and steak kind of place. Kitchen fire was the straw that broke the camels back.

I relived that memory two years ago at the Concord Peppermill before it closed. I think the only one left is on the Strip, a couple doors down from Wynn Las Vegas. (a restaurant, not a hotel like Reno)
I remember being at the CM one very late when they watered all that lush greenery inside the restuarant.

(Since it was all plastic it was their way of dusting!)

Who can forget the Peppermill! The smokehouse almonds, the sexy waitresses who'd sit next to you to take your order, the lava lounge... doesn't get much better!

Does anyone remember the Peppermill in Corte Madera, where Max's is today? I spent many an evening sitting around the fire pit in the cocktail lounge. It was so dark and romantic. I remember the waitresses were all very attractive and wore sexy low-cut dresses with the slits up to the thigh. They changed their dress color every season. My co-workers and I would look forward to unwinding there after work on many a Friday night in the late 70’s. I can't believe I never got caught for drinking underage. I guess I had a good fake ID. I can still taste those strawberry daiquiris with the dollop of whipped cream on top. And remember the appetizers? We used to order the potato skins. They were so bad for you but tasted so good. I wish there was a cozy place like that in Marin today.
