I think it was around Fall of 1987 I worked at Yogurt World in San Rafael (at Marin Square, across from the Wherehouse). It was my first job ever. Once or twice I worked (substituted for another worker) at the Yogurt World at Larkspur Landing. I only worked there for about three or four months. I also worked at Ethnic Arts at Larkspur Landing for a brief stint and then got axed for not being being a terribly good salesperson. Local celebrities occasionally stopped in to shop at Ethnic Arts. Grace Slick came in once and she looked incredible, with her intensly beautiful blue eyes. Those were the days when Frys grocery store was located there.

Not only do I remember eating a metric ton of yogurt at Larkspur Landing, but I still remember some of the dance routines from Giant Turtle, circa 1987-89!

oops oops- I think Local Yogurt was actually the shop on College Ave in Kentfield (one of the first- serving their excellent chocolate, vanilla and strawberry frozen yogurts in styrofoam cups). I think the one in Larkspur Landing was Yogurt World, or??.... does anyone remember?

A couple of my high school girlfriends worked at this fro yo joint in Larkspur Landing- around 1989-1990. I wasn't officially 'employed,' but would often stand behind the counter to dish out yogurt to the customers or- better yet- to myself!

I remember one afternoon we had just finished auditioning for the Giant Turtle (a Redwood High School student-written phenomenon) and were preparing for the call-backs. We'd been given a dance routine to practice overnight, and my two buddies (who had also auditioned) were scheduled to work at the yogurt store that evening. At one point when business was slow, we closed the doors and began practicing the routine in front of each other. Apparently the owner- who rarely came to the store- happened to be driving by and saw us through the window. He apparently phoned the manager who, the following morning, fired my two friends. But then again, WE probably all deserved it! And for the record, neither has been fired from another job since!
