Well, if you roll down to the California room and ask them for help, they could see if they have any clippings on that. They do have several indexes. Then you could started going through the microfilm. The microfilm is a bit laborious but they recently got new machines with big big monitors so you can see the whole paper relatively well. Still labor-intensive but once you find your ad, you can have it on your thumbdrive in about ten seconds.

Thanks, yes I'm pretty motivated to see the graphic used. It was a great silhouette of a haunted mansion with bats flying around and stuff. The poster of Novato's Spooky Swamp last year is slightly reminiscent of the old poster. Thanks again!

4th Street Cruiser. In case you are super-motivated, the Civic Center library has several excellent digital scanning microfilm machines that let you get jpeg copies of the IJ--saved to your thumb drive (you need to bring a thumb drive). You'd easily be able to find a number of articles and pics on this subject. Worth it if you are motivated. Unfortunately the microfilm combined with the scanning program make for really crappy photos, in general.

An alternate place to look would be in the California room at the civic center library, where they might have a clipping file for this subject. The do allow you to take pictures of the clippings which will be much higher quality than you can get using the microfilm scanner. If you want to get some nice photos, that'd be the best best that I know of.

Remember the Haunted House that used to be in the San Rafael Courthouse at Halloween time? It moved to the old library near/on Belle Ave near Dominican. If you have access to a poster advertising the Haunted House or possibly an IJ ad I would LOVE to see it.
