Back in 2008 I started a MarinNostalgia "Group" on Facebook. To be frank, I kinda forgot about it after that. My wife had a second baby, the Real Estate market got fairly hectic, and I just got busy with other stuff. So, unfortunately, MarinNostalgia took a back seat to real life.

However, MarinNostalgia is coming back soon with all-new features, content, and better Facebook integration. I recently started a new MarinNostalgia "Page" which seems to have replaced the "Group" in Facebookland. For posterity I've copied and pasted the comments from the original FB "Group" (confused yet?) below:

Greg Anderson: My great-grandfather George Haun, was the civil engineer on the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge. He was there during the joining of the two sides. Does anyone have any images of the opening of the bridge?

Laura Greenfield: How can I view the whole NBC special "I Want It All Now"? Funny enough, my parents would not let me watch it as a kid.

Alejandro Moreno S.:
Anyone remember the band Psychefunkapus from San Geronimo Valley: They're in Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychefunkapus. Their bassist Atom Ellis is with The New Cars.

Seth Ponek: Psychefunkapus jammed... - Yes, I still have their CD ......Cool guys....

I've even played 'em for my kids... Thanks for the flashback, Alex!

Josef Richardson: I remember Psychefunkapus quite well. I went to Drake with Jon Axtell. Man almighty, that boy could shred!

Melanie Carlson:
Does anyone remember the series The Serial, I have a copy of the book and it is very Marin during the 70's

William Savage: Got the book, 1st ed spiral bound, too. THE MOVIE, W/MARTIN MULL, RULED! Back then, every bag boy in Marin (me included) fantasized about that scene in van in M.V. I was at Big G in Sausalito then. . July 15, 2010

Christie Schaefer: Cafe Nuvo in San Anselmo - Patrick's Bookshop Cafe in Fairfax..... Mandrake Books in San Rafael - o, my long-gone places! January 12, 2009 at 12:03am

Bronwyn Galloway: Cafe Nuvo: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/group.php?gid=12581956234&ref=ts

Mary Back Ruiz: Here is a pic of me and my mom at the Marin Town & Country Club, circa 1962. We lived in Daly City and would escape the fog by heading north to this wonderful place!

Dan McGee: Spent many years in and out of Marin. Was back a few years ago for a high school reunion, Drake Class of '62, and realized that most people still haven't figured out how to drive on Sir Francis Drake! My uncle and aunt ran the post office in Inverness for more years than I can even remember. And does anyone ever remember huddling, on a cold day, at the bus station in Marin City. Gone now but it used to be very cozy when filled with people.

Lisa DiFrancesca: Zimm's! And there used to be a bowling alley that my parents used to go to in the early 70's right there, too. I used to work at La Petite..I think you spelled it right! It is Noah's Bagel's now. I was in there with my step-daughter (probably 15 or 16@ the time), telling her about how I worked there when I was her age...weird!

Patrick Torres: In the early '80s there was a sticky bun place down next to Wells Fargo. I don't think it was Cinnabon, but it was VERY popular. Anyone remember the name?

Marlies Newman Blackford: Zim's!!! OMG I remember that place!! Too many deep conversations with my parent happened there. What about La Petite Boulangerie. I know I spelled it wrong but that was in the same strip mall as Zimm's.

Melissa Gans The Sweden House in Tiburon just closed...another business to add to the nostalgia list.

Jennifer Couch: Zimm's had the best french fries! I remember going there with a big group of friends late at nite. We'd sit in the big round booths, order fries that we'd all share cuz everyone was broke and drink cup after cup of coffee and smoke up the place! Good times...

Bob Posner: Grew up in Kentfield. Remember the floods closing down Kent School and the flooded COM football field. Ah, the Eat and Run with it's "Secret Sauce" on the greasy french fries! Used to swim at the "new" COM swimming pool during the summer for either 25 or 50 cents. Great times!

Cindy Mansfield Friedman: Funny, I grew up in Novato- San Marin to be specific. We used to be called the armpit of Marin but now the realtors call Novato the "Gateway to the wine country" and I agree with them. I live in Sonoma and work in the wine biz!

Hillary Hamilton I was the weekend hostess at Zim's from 1986 through 1987... throughout my Senior year at Redwood and the summer after. Being there at 8am after a party in Kevin Brown's garage or the like was not fun! But I loved working there, my friends could come see me and got in good with the cops! =D I had my first cup of coffee there back in 1985...oh the memories!

Brien Kreps I remember Zim's! One of my first jobs was busing tables there on the graveyard shift. The bowling ally was great. In junior high I would sneak out of the house at night with a neighbor friend and go bowling, and buy cigarettes from the machine there.

Marilen Wood: I remember Serial. I think it was originally published in column form in the Pacific Sun. On another note, I also remember the Landsdale Cafe in San Anselmo. You could always find the most interesting conversations in that place. That is a place I truly miss.

William Savage: Every day is a moving Rembrandt in west Marin, best seen kinetically on two wheels. I do miss it so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h19n-5qIp78&feature=player_embedded#at=43
