The door is still there at the gym.

Please elaborate.....where exactly is the Ward's sign?...I'd like to get a photo of it...thanks.

Great shot. That addy is now Taqueria Maria.

It became the fourth annex of Macy's. If I remember right, they sold mattress' in that storefront.

To it's right were the spaces Macy's had that were Woolworth's, Montgomery Ward's, and then across the street were the main three story originally Albert's and the two story former J.C. Penney next door. (former El Camino ? movie theater)

I liked that makeshift store. Actually besides a few visits to the men's/boy's in the basement of the main store, really the only place I went was to the old Ward's (still says it on the back of the gym)

It was stereos, tv, and electronics. They sold more than any other store in California. We parked on the second deck of the parking structure and walked right into the second floor electronics dept.

The door is still there at the gym.

One of the things I like most about looking at old photos are when there are glimpses of ordinary people captured just doing their everyday things, even if it's watching a parade. Here's a bunch of Marinites of 58 years ago, on Fourth Street in San Rafael in June 1950. (This is the parade during which the Mar Vista Motors fire broke out). Photo by my sister Rosemary.
