Why "Larkspur"?

The standard legend of how Larkspur got its name revolves around the alleged misidentification of wildflowers growing on the local hills by Mrs. C.W. Wright, wife of the late-19th century land developer. The punch line is that if Mrs. Wright hadn't been wrong, the town would have been named "Lupine." My sister Rosemary, a native plant buff, feels Mrs. Wright's floricultural acumen has been unjustifiably maligned all these years, and has penned a brief essay to that effect. I've put it up on my Larkspur site and entitled it "Mrs. Wright Was Right."
