Vernon 'Lefty' Gomez lived in Fairfax after a distinguished career helping the Yankees to 5 championships in the 1930's, he holds the Yankees third best win record with 189 wins, he was born in Rodeo, California & played for the San Francisco Seals before being signed by New York.When I worked on a crew building homes in the early 70's my foreman lived next door to him on Porteous in Fairfax & had some neat anecdotes about his neighbor.
Bill 'Spaceman' Lee graduated from Terra Linda High in the 1960's & went on to play pro baseball as a pitcher, Lee was rumored to be quite a stoner, hence the nickname 'Spaceman'
