A friend of mine worked at Wood Island for Victoria Station. I think
that is one of the nicest office buildings in Marin.
I also worked for a contractor at the owner of Victoria Station's house
in Ross ( Mr. Freeman ? ).
I guess what happened is that the public didn't really care for beef
steak products very much , it was a short lived boom before bust.
Most of us quit eating red meat ( we're talking blood red tough steaks )
in the mid 60's. Once or twice a year a well done filet mignon is
OK , but those cheap steaks don't fly here. No doubt that they did
make some money on the venture .

Who remembers the Victoria Station restaurant on East Sir Francis Drake Blvd in Larkspur? It was the hot place to go back in the late 70s and early 80s. It was right across the street from Victoria Station's corporate headquarters which is now the Wood Island Office complex, up on the hill just west of the ferry. The 3 founders of the chain were college buddies from back east ( Cornell?). They were all sports jocks, so when the had the HQ building designed, they put a full sized basketball court, lockers and sauna in the basement. Unfortunately they spent too much time shooting hoops, and not enough time watching the business, and the Company eventually filed for bankruptcy. The remenents of the basketball court are still in the basement of the building.
