I think it's the same place.
It was common that when a building burned down that the front steps were the only thing that
survived besides the fireplace which was often knocked down for the bricks.

No, my shots were from 1961, four years after the fire, so it could be the place.

no steps in that view, though

mansion burned in 1957, so steps must have led to another building?

In early 1961 I took these two shots of the burned ruins of some big house up at the end of Sleepy Hollow, and at the time had no idea what the story was. I presume it's the Hotaling mansion, right? Anything left of it now?
