I remember back in the 1970's at the Marin Civic Center park, east of the lagoon there was a big festival featuring top bluegrass acts, I remember hearing Jerry Garcia's voice wafting across the water as he sang the Hank Williams tune 'Jambalaya' as we were trying to figure out how to sneak in, suddenly Dave R. & another guy we knew showed up on the shore with a canoe & ferried us over to the island & we were in ! Doc Watson played with his son Merle, it was incredible. Later as we were walking around the park we heard Maria Muldaur singing 'Midnight At The Oasis' , not bluegrass, but she sounded great. Somebody said Bob Dylan was there too, but I guess I missed that, they said they would do it again the following year, but I think that one time was it.
